Creamy Italian Chicken

Creamy Italian Chicken – A tasty recipe for the slow cooker.

Prep Time 5 mins
Cook Time 4 hrs
Temp High
Yield Serves 4

I messed up "Creamy Italian Chicken" and came up with this instead! So glad I messed it up...this dish is creamy, satisfying, and yummy!

  • 4 chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 Can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 Package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 Package dry ranch dressing mix
  • 1/4 Cup water
  • 4 Tablespoons butter

  1. Step One

Line your crock pot with a liner (you don't have to, but it makes clean-up SOOO much easier).

  2. Step Two

Place your chicken in the bottom of your crock pot (frozen or thawed).

  3. Step Three

In a separate bowl, mix together the other ingredients to make the sauce.

  4. Step Four

Pour sauce on top of chicken.

  5. Step Five

Slice up the butter and place on top of chicken. (This step is optional, and the recipe will be healthier if the butter is left out, but I think it gives it something extra.)

  6. Step Six

Crock on HIGH for 4 hours or LOW for 6-8. Add an extra 1-2 hours to cook time if chicken starts out frozen.

  7. Step Seven

Serve on top of angel hair pasta or rice.

Hi all! So glad you like this recipe! Michelle–GREAT idea with the veggies! Jessica–no, I do not stir the sauce as it cooks. The trick is using room temperature cream cheese so that it melts. If worse comes to worse, you could heat the cream cheese, cream of chicken, ranch seasoning, and water on the stove and stir together until the cream cheese is melted, then pour it over the chicken. Monica–as far as cutting the sodium, I would use unsalted butter and low sodium cream of chicken soup. Want more sauce? Double the sauce recipe!

This is a delicious recipe! Any thoughts on how to cut out some of the sodium from this recipe?

Do you need to stir the sauce as it cooks?

I am a mother of 5 and EVERYONE LOVED this delicious recipe!! Instead of serving it over a bed or rice, it was so creamy and tasty that it made a perfect sauce to go over a bed of mixed veggies! I just popped a bag of frozen veggies(or microwavable pouches) on the stove, boiled and served this dish over it like you would the pasta or even over rice. They all went for second, some thirds and did not mind the veggies at all! I really LOVE this recipe too!
