This taste just like a stuffed green pepper. Wonderful for cold winter nights. A comfort food for our family. We serve it with Corn Bread.
This meal always puts me back around my childhood dinner table. Meatloaf, some green beans, mashed potatoes and rolls were pretty much a weekly staple meal. I combine my family's recipe with my mother-in-law’s serving method and put it in the slow cooker. Now get your family around the table and enjoy!
- For Sauce:
- 4 Tablespoons mustard
- 2/3 Cup ketchup
- 2/3 Cup brown sugar
- 4 Tablespoons worcestershire
- 1 (8 oz) Can tomato sauce
- salt and pepper to taste
- Meat Mixture
- 1 Pound extra lean ground beef
- 1/2 to 1 white onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 1/2 sleeve crackers (I use the whole grain)
- 1 egg
- half of sauce mixture
In a large bowl, combine and mix sauce ingredients.
In a separate bowl, combine beef, onion, bell pepper, crackers, egg and pour half of sauce into bowl.
Place meat mixture in bottom of slow cooker or in mini foil loaf pans and spoon remaining sauce on top.
Cook on LOW for 8 hours.
