Picante Chicken


  • 6 Boneless skinless chicken breasts (I use them whole but you can cut them up into bite size pieces and even brown them in the garlic and a little oil if you like)
  • 2 (large) Jars Picante sauce or salsa
  • A few crushed garlic cloves (to your taste)


  1. Step One

    Cook all in the slow cooker on high for several hours or low all day before serving.

  2. Step Two

    Mix in a large container of sour cream (I use reduced fat).

  3. Step Three

    Serve over rice (we like brown rice).

    I make this often, using a half of jar of medium salsa and then add a large can of diced tomatoes. Add a little cumin, onion and a touch of garlic. Have even added a packet of taco seasoning too. Serve it over rice…yummo! A family favorite!

    I made this for the first time last week & will definitely be making it again & again. Hard to get 3 kids to eat the same dinner, but this was a winner at our house. I forgot to add the sour cream & we still all liked it a lot. I used 1 jar of mild salsa & 1 jar of medium picante & served over rice with a caesar salad. Yummy!!
